DAVID SCHWADE, AIA

Principal Architect

David began his career as the first intern for Max Strang, an award-winning architect in Miami specializing in environmentally conscious high-end residential architecture. He went on to work for one of the leading commercial real estate developers focusing on delivering turn-key retail spaces to national brands across the United States. David moved to New York where he worked for The Nanz Company, collaborating with top-tier designers to design, specify and fabricate architectural hardware for multi-million-dollar residential projects. He was later recruited by Kiehl’s, where he oversaw the design and renovation of over 100 retail stores throughout the country, eventually moving back to Miami to manage the build-out of their new Lincoln Road location. Once completed, he began working for Fortis Development Group to manage the construction of 250 Wynwood, the first new residential project in Wynwood in decades. Upon completion, David decided to go out on his own as a licensed Architect and started ANDstudio. At the same time, Elle Décor selected the penthouse of 250 Wynwood to be their location of the 2015 Modern Life Concept House, where 5 designers worked to transform each space, and hired ANDstudio to manage the successful execution of their annual event. Over the next few years, ANDstudio continued to expand in both the residential and commercial markets, and in late 2018 David recruited his friend and fellow architect Dakota Hendon to partner up in order to meet the influx of new and exciting projects.

David is a licensed architect in Florida, LEED accredited, and a member of the American Institute of Architects.

DAKOTA HENDON, AIA

Principal Architect

Dakota brings a wide range of planning, architecture and construction management experience to ANDstudio from both the public and private sector. As a planner, Dakota helped two of the country’s most progressive planning agencies tackle major rewrites to their zoning codes, including Miami 21, the country’s first form-based zoning code. Dakota has also worked alongside some of the country’s preeminent design firms on a wide range of architectural design and construction management projects in both Miami and New York City. Most recently, Dakota served as the design manager for NYC’s “Build It Back” program with a construction budget of over $300 million dollars. Working alongside AECOM and several other architecture and engineering firms, Dakota helped implement an innovative design-build project delivery method to reconstruct hundreds of homes that were damaged by Hurricane Sandy. Dakota is most proud of his part in creating the City’s first modular housing program which created 100 resilient homes for affected City residents in half the time and at 20% reduced cost over traditional construction.

Dakota is a licensed architect in Florida, and a member of the American Institute of Architects.
